Mindy Lym is an intuitive teacher and musical theatre performer. She believes in addressing the whole person, which includes but is not limited to vocal building, intensive acting training, spiritual development and self-empowerment.
Mindy was chosen by Richard Nickol as the next in his lineage of vocal technology, and as the teacher who would continue the cultivation of his own studio after his passing in late 2012. She was trained by Richard Nickol for more than a decade and began teaching at his side at the age of 18 when they flew to Philadelphia together to fulfill a week long teaching grant.
Mindy is the creator of Vocal Forum NYC, a platform for donation based musical theatre training in Manhattan. Her students have performed in the Broadway national tours of Cats, Catch Me If You Can and Wicked and in regional theatres such as Utah Shakespeare Festival, TheatreWorks, PCPA TheatreFest and many more.
Mindy’s studies also include Jungian Psychology and the student/teacher relationship with Pathways Institute, extensive training with Bobby Weinapple at Seydways Acting Studios, first hand experience in the New York City musical theatre scene and time with the American Conservatory Theatre and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She has also given award-winning turns in roles which run the gamut from Maria in West Side Story to Eva Peron in Evita.
On a personal level, Mindy finds teaching deeply fulfilling, and constantly strives to become a better teacher. She is personally committed to searching out whatever tools necessary to help her students actualize their greatest potential. She is deeply honored to be carrying on and expanding upon Richard’s work.
